Rieko Miyakuni LCP
I am passionate about working with children and adolescents who are facing social, emotional, behavioral, and psychosocial development challenges and their families experiencing difficulties in the parent-child relationship, anxiety, depression, trauma, and/or life stressors. Thriving in childhood and adolescence involves social and emotional learning and developing and practicing healthy coping skills through support and insights in a safe environment. In counseling children, teens, and parents/caregivers, I provide compassionate, warm approaches and support to develop a therapeutic relationship that will facilitate exploration, growth, and healing. I incorporate techniques from play therapy, Adlerian, and person-centered approaches.
In addition, I work with adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, life stressors, psychosocial development, and interpersonal relationship difficulties.
I am an Okinawan native, a member of the Bi+ community, and am currently working to become a registered play therapist (RPT).
