Lynn, a seasoned counselor with over 35 years of experience, is available to assist individuals of all ages and mental health conditions. She holds a degree in art therapy from the University of Illinois at Chicago and has received training in various therapeutic modalities including Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy, EMDR (video below), Family Constellations, Reconnective Healing, Dan Siegel, and Joe Despenza.

Lynn skillfully integrates these processes into a powerful method that has proven effective in bringing peace and relief to those struggling with trauma, depression, anxiety, and life’s daily challenges.

Throughout her career, Lynn has worked in diverse settings such as a shelter for abused women, a psychiatric hospital, a VA hospital, the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, and a child sexual abuse treatment center. She also played a pivotal role in developing the Children’s Center at the Family Counseling Center and served as a foster parent to some of the most troubled children.

Lynn’s commitment to her own healing journey has deepened her understanding of how to help others heal. Despite facing life struggles, including a diagnosis of Parkinson’s Disease, she has discovered ways to function joyfully. Lynn incorporates mindfulness practices to calm her nervous system and utilizes EMDR and spiritual processes to aid in the healing process.

Kim McArthur is a highly skilled therapist with extensive experience in individual and family therapy. Kim’s expertise also includes nonprofit organizations, group therapy, event planning, customer service, and crisis intervention. She holds a Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) with a specialization in School Social Work Type 73 from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Kim is available to offer both in-person and online therapy sessions.

Glenda Gomez-Krygsheld

Glenda is a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) with a passion for supporting women and children. With extensive experience working with teenage mothers and their children, She has dedicated many years to helping young parents navigate the transition into motherhood. Her approach focuses on equipping them with the necessary tools and resources to overcome challenges and build a stable future.

In addition, Glenda has worked with adolescents facing trauma and life challenges, providing guidance, teaching essential life skills, and supporting them in achieving personal goals and independence. More recently, her work has centered on adults, particularly women, as they process trauma and grief.

At Oakwoods Center, we take a holistic approach to therapy, integrating mindfulness techniques to promote healing from within. Our commitment is to provide compassionate, evidence-based support to individuals navigating various life challenges and traumas. Glenda’s goal is to empower clients to foster positive change and enhance their overall well-being.

Fluent in both English and Spanish, I value diversity and enjoy working with individuals from all cultural backgrounds.

Rieko Miyakuni

Graduate Faculty | Clinical Mental Health Counselor | Researcher | Play Therapy Trainee
Rieko is a full-time faculty member in the Counselor Education Department at Winona State University. In addition to her academic role, Rieko continues to provide counseling services to children, families, and adults, integrating a trauma-informed, developmentally sensitive, and culturally responsive approach.
With a strong clinical foundation and a passion for working with children and families, Rieko is currently pursuing certification as a Registered Play Therapist (RPT). Her clinical work is deeply informed by her training in play therapy, helping children build emotional regulation, self-concept, and resilience through therapeutic play.
Rieko’s teaching and clinical practice are grounded in a multicultural social justice framework. Her research focuses on critical consciousness, multicultural distress, and systemic oppression, particularly as they affect marginalized communities. As a practitioner-scholar, Rieko is committed to transformative education and healing.
Whether in the classroom, the counseling room, or the community, Rieko’s work is guided by a deep commitment to healing, justice, equity, and human dignity.
